1. Who We Are

Walima ("we," "us," "our") is a private premarital compatibility service for Muslims considering marriage. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

2. What We Collect

What you give us:

  • Your first name and gender (to tailor questions)
  • Your email address (to send invitations and reports)
  • Guardian (wali) name and email, if provided
  • Optional viewer details (imam, counselor, or family member)
  • Your assessment responses

What we collect automatically:

  • Basic analytics (page views, device type) if you accept cookies
  • Error reports to fix bugs, if you accept cookies
  • Payment metadata via our payment processor (we never see your card number)

If you reject cookies via our banner, no analytics or error data is collected.

3. How We Use It

  • To generate and deliver your compatibility report
  • To send assessment invitations and report links
  • To deliver reports to your wali and any additional viewers you chose
  • To process your payment

That's it. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone not listed above.

4. Your Data Disappears

This is the most important part of this policy.

  • Encrypted on arrival: Your assessment answers are encrypted the moment they reach our servers. We cannot read them.
  • Temporary by design: Your data exists only long enough to generate your report. Incomplete assessments are deleted after 30 days.
  • Reports expire in 72 hours: After that, the report link stops working and all associated data is permanently deleted.
  • No recovery: Once deleted, no one can retrieve it, including us. Save the PDF if you want to keep your report.
  • Never used for training: Your answers and report are never used to train machine learning models or for any purpose beyond your specific report.

5. How We Generate Your Report

We use third-party services to generate your personalized questions and compatibility insights. Your answers are sent to these services for one-time processing. No provider retains your data after processing is complete.

6. What We Keep Permanently

  • Payment records: Transaction IDs and amounts, required for tax and refunds. Handled by our payment processor.
  • Your email: Only if you opted in to updates. Unsubscribe anytime.
  • Assessment status: Whether an assessment was completed (for refund processing). No answer content is kept.

We do not store assessment answers, report content, or personal details beyond what is listed above.

7. Who Sees Your Report

Your compatibility report is shared only with:

  • Both people who took the assessment
  • The designated wali (guardian)
  • Any additional viewer you chose to add

All viewers are disclosed to both parties before the assessment begins. No one else sees your report.

8. Cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept non-essential cookies.

  • Essential cookies: Required for the assessment to function (authentication). Always active.
  • Analytics and error tracking: Help us understand usage and fix bugs. Only active if you accept.

If you reject, no tracking data is collected and no third-party analytics cookies are set.

9. Your Rights

  • Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Most data is automatically deleted. You can request removal of your email from our lists at any time.
  • Refund: Full refund within 14 days if the assessment has not been completed by both parties.
  • Opt out: Unsubscribe from emails via the link in any message.

10. Security

We use encryption at rest and in transit, secure authentication for all server access, and follow industry best practices. Our zero-retention design means that even in the unlikely event of a breach, there is minimal personal data to expose.

11. Children

Walima is for adults considering marriage. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via email to active users. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

13. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted services to operate Walima. For details on each provider, what data they process, and links to their privacy policies, see our subprocessor list.
